IT - Business Systems Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Systems Analyst works within Diamond Hill’s Information Technology team, with primary focus on data management projects. The analyst’s day-to-day activities include, but are not limited to: technical requirements gathering and documentation; project management; business partner assistance with reporting technology; technical training; creation and maintenance of data process flows; and assistance with business cases for technology spend. The individual engages in analysis, design, creation, and implementation activities that align with business-sponsored projects throughout the firm.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with the implementation of data warehouse solutions that have been approved for development by the EDM (Enterprise Data Management) core team and applicable business sponsors. • Serve as a subject matter expert for the data warehouse, with a comprehensive understanding of the data elements, and the analytics layers used for business presentation. • Plan, facilitate, and conduct requirement gathering sessions. • Work with the development team to ensure requirements are actionable and fully understood. • Serve as a Project Manager for various initiatives, inclusive of: creating / maintaining schedules and timelines; escalating project risks / decisions required; and facilitating project and/or steering committee meetings. • Participate in the development and planning of testing activities, including reviewing test scenarios and scripts, based on business requirements. • Assist business sponsors, when necessary, with the development of business cases and potential data warehouse solutions. • Manage the list of data warehouse project ideas, and work with the development team to assess the size of each effort so they can be dispositioned by the EDM core team and/or business sponsor (s). • Assist with the documentation of current state data flows within the firm, and develop future-state ideas for improvement in conjunction with the sponsoring business line. • Build and maintain a report inventory across the firm and determine opportunities for improved quality, efficiency, and accessibility, in conjunction with the sponsoring business line. • Participate in data quality efforts that include the usage of data quality and governance tools. • Communicate project updates and educate the firm on data-related efforts, including: firm education of data initiatives; demonstration of reports & capabilities; and solicitation of ideas and feedback. • Assist business groups with the development of reports or visualizations using the data warehouse or other data sources within the firm; train users how to access the data ongoing; and, serve as a resource for future enhancements. • Assist business groups with the oversight and management of 3rd party data providers that feed data into enterprise data systems.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role. • Experience working within the Asset Management or Banking industries. • Experience with Agile and Waterfall development methodologies. • Excellent planning and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and react to changing priorities. • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal: ability to communicate complex technical concepts in simple terms; ability to facilitate conversations that lead to agreed direction. • Proactive and resourceful, with the ability to work independently and problem solve. • Strong analytics background, with expertise in data delivery. • Advanced Excel skills, including connectivity to database structures, and various reporting techniques. • Must be proficient with process mapping tools such as Microsoft Visio. • Strong project management skills, including the ability to take initiative, multi-task, prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Exceptional attention to detail. • Experience with data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or QlikView preferred. • Experience with project planning tools such as Microsoft Project preferred. • Experience with data governance tools preferred. • Experience with the Microsoft Business Intelligence Suite preferred.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical related field required. • Willingness to complete Investment FoundationsTM program through the CFA Institute to acquire a basic understanding of our business and industry.
