Rob joined GBQ in 2014 upon graduation from Ohio Northern University (ONU) and received his CPA license the following year. Since then, he has worked with a wide variety of closely-held companies and their owners, with particular emphasis on serving high-net-worth families and their related entities. Rob enjoys helping clients navigate tax compliance and consulting complexities, including gift and estate planning and trust taxation. Rob has also worked with executives of various companies and is well-versed in the intricacies of executive compensation packages.
Rob spends a significant amount of time working with venture capital and private equity fund sponsors on tax compliance and structuring initial investments, follow-on investments and exits. As part of those engagements, clients frequently request him to consult with portfolio companies on various tax matters.
Earlier in his career, Rob served as a Financial Analyst in GBQ’s Forensic & Dispute Advisory Services department, where he consulted on commercial and domestic litigation in matters ranging from fraud to business valuation. His experience also includes assisting a $2 billion asset-under-management private equity firm with tax compliance and investor relations as an extension of their staff.
Rob remains active throughout the community by volunteering his time and expertise to various organizations. A proud ONU Polar Bear, he serves on the James F. Dicke College of Business Advisory Board and is a member of the Columbus Alumni Club. In addition to the AICPA, Rob is a member of the OSCPA, where he has held several positions within various committees and boards, including the Ohio Young CPA Committee, Statewide Endorsement Committee, and the Development Committee of the Ohio CPA Foundation. Rob is also a member of the Columbus Emerging Leaders Board for Make-A-Wish of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
Passionate about teaching, Rob was selected as an Adjunct Professor of Accounting at Capital University for the 2022 and 2023 academic years. His public speaking engagements include discussing emerging tax issues with various audiences and organizations. Rob has also been twice-recognized by his GBQ colleagues as the Ron Quillin Learning Award winner for his dedication to learning and mentoring.
A lifelong Central Ohio resident, Rob lives in New Albany with his wife, Hannah, and their daughter, Ainsley.
