FPA Central Ohio presents A New Perspective on Retirement Income Planning
presented by Michael Finke, Ph.D, CFP®
Fawcett Center,2400 Olentangy River Rd, Columbus, OH 43210
Joint FPA/CFA Society Lunch Program
presented by
Dr. Michael Finke, CFP®, is Chief Academic Officer at The American College of Financial Services and is a nationally renowned researcher with a focus on the value of financial advice, financial planning regulation, investments and individual investor behavior. Finke has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and is widely quoted in many of the nation’s leading consumer publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Time, and Money Magazine.
Advisors often view retirement income planning through the lens of the 4% rule, but changes in longevity and a lower-return environment challenge conventional wisdom about safe withdrawal rates. This presentation will discuss what it means to take risk with an investment portfolio in retirement, how high prices for bonds and stocks will impact withdrawal rate projection, and the actual risk of health care expenses. The presentation will conclude with strategies to deal with a new retirement reality including a discussion of qualified longevity annuity contracts.
