Making The Jump A Planner's Toolkit For Advising Clients On Self Employment - slides
In the midst of the pandemic, a shift to self-employment and side hustles is underway. Clients are looking for ways to generate more income, save more money, and have more work-life balance. This presentation will provide practical tools and information for planners to counsel clients looking to make the jump to self-employment, including a discussion of the opportunities, challenges and tax and advice implications.
Learning Objectives:
- Help clients understand their options for establishing a business entity or reporting self-employment income, and help determine which to select and when to switch.
- Help clients understand their personal tax obligations as a self-employed individual or business owner, for reporting, payments and filings.
- Help clients understand tax benefits and deductions available under the TCJA for self-employed individuals and business owners, and how to take advantage of them.
