The presentation will begin with an introduction to alternative investments, what they are, and a history of alternative investments. Following that is a discussion on benefits of alternative investments and their compliment to traditional investment assets. Then a look at alternative investments in 2023 and why they are attractive now. Ending with a look at different types of alternative investments including private equity and secondaries, hedge funds, opportunistic, private credit, and private real estate with descriptions of each and examples.

Learning Objectives:

  1. How alternative assets are different from "traditional" assets
  2. Provide examples of alternative assets
  3. Why it makes sense to add alternative assets to clients' portfolios
